My 6 Basic Elements of Quilting

Every now and then someone will look at me and say, "Gerri, I love your quilt designs but they just look too hard for me"! I always laugh when I hear that because guess what? At the core of all of my designs are the same 6 BASIC quilting elements! If you can learn these 6 elements of quilting I promise you can make any and all of my quilts!

We piqued your curiosity in our last post and I wanted to circle back here with some answers to the emails I received. 

First and foremost: DON'T let the designs intimidate you! 

Each of the 4 designs are constructed using my 6 BASIC quilting elements of Half Square Triangle, Quick Angled Rectangle, Flying Geese, Snowball Block, Square-in-a-Square and a Triangle-in-a-Square. 

If you are confident in making each of these elements, you will have NO problem whatsoever making any one of the 4 designs:

What is a MOD-ified Quilt Design You Ask?

The dictionary meaning is; to make partial or minor changes to something, typically to improve it or to make it less extreme.

That's exactly what we did with all the quilt designs in my book, Rustic Romance.  As a quick refresher, here are the quilts originally designed in Rustic Romance immediately followed by their MOD-ified version sewn up in Riley Blake Confetti Cotton solids.

Faded Memories Blog Tour Wrap Up with a Parade of Buckets and Totes!

What a fantastic week we had touring around the different blog sites to see the different designers' Faded Memories creations.   I love to see how other quilters/designers interpret my fabrics; it truly is one of the best parts of designing!

I get to participate too in this fun little tour, not as a creator, but as a "spokesperson" for Penny Sturges of Quilts Illustrated.  

Just like all the other participants, Penny graciously said yes to my request to make and create as long as I handled the "social" side; DONE.DEAL!!!
