Welcome to Week 4 of the RBD Block Challenge!
As a friendly reminder, the LAST week of EACH month there is NO block allowing you to catch up. Yep - last week was CATCH UP week!
Did you get caught up? No worries! There will be time the last week of March to do so!
Block 4, the Stella block, was designed by Sandy Gervais of Pieces From My Heart (below).
Want to see what it looks like in Riley Blakes NEW Confetti Cotton colors? Check it out below!
I LOVE both designs equally well! Such a GREAT block to really play and experiment with color AND contrast! You really can't go wrong with this design.
Staying true to using the Gem Stones Bright Palette, my Stella block isn't showing a lot of contrast but I still think its a beauty in all its springtime colors and who isn't ready for Spring?!
I used the lighter tones of Banana Mania for my background, Lagoon Blue for the Half Square Triangles, Spring Green for the Triangle-in-a-Square Blocks and Coral Serenade representing the Shoofly Block in the center!
Did you "eye spy" my Triangle-in-a-Square tool? Although its NOT needed to make this block it sure makes cutting the pieces a whole lot easier!
The demo for the Triangle-in-a-Square block begins at the 14:38 time marker. Simply drag the play bar (across the bottom of the picture) to the 14:38 time stamp and hit play.
In the video I make a 4-1/2" (unfinished block) and the Stella block requires a 2-1/2" (unfinished block) so simply cut your strips 2-1/2". That's the ONLY difference - the construction is all the same!
Excited for Block 4 and to try (maybe for the first time) making a Triangle-in-a-Square block? I hope so!
